This was an interesting rabbit trail that was briefly explored yesterday in my sociology class.
The discussion started off about how class affects peoples lives. Then it moved to what creates class. The most agreed upon idea was that money creates class. Well before heading off onto our bunny trail we discussed ways that it could be cured. e.g. Utopia.
Its a strange and difficult concept to wraps my mind around. At least for me that is.
At first I was like, yah that would kick butt. Total peace nothing to fight over. But then I was like well, yes there is. Because a utopia would be based on trade most likely. Well some person that was the only one who could do something would be able to dictate how much he would take for something.
The other thing that came to my mind was,...... wait a second, Id be working for free. See for me, working for free is pretty insane. Im sure it is posible, but I wouldnt want to be the person to try and set it up.

Mmm, yes Marx and Engels... It's an awesome thought, but I'm pretty sure that a system of classes will always exist. I think I posted something on this awhile ago...
I was going to say Mr. Derek, you almost sounded socialist there for wee second! You should try visiting Canada, it's pretty close to Utopia :)
In all serious, I am a firm believer in capitalism. I don't think Utopia is found in socialism. In fact, there will never be Utopia. Nature is not set up for everyone to play nice.
Those are sweet quotes. I think Sweden has socialism set up with a lot of government programs and such. It actually sounds pretty sweet, the government provides newlyweds with a home. I think that's one of them, but there's a bunch more.
Hehe, I read "Utopia" and while it was interesting I can safely say a world with perfection and peace would be a SNORE. lol, just thought I'd let you know I was reading your posts.

Mmhmm...interesting blog fidelcastro. You make far too many assumptions. This is an exchange of thoughts and ideas, not beliefs.

Mr. Castro... Christians and other relgious people in general volunteer huge amounts of time, give money to the less fortunate, and through their churches help many people... that is just an uneducated ad hom attack.
Fidel, please cite me ONE instance where Communism has created a good, wealthy, and peaceful society with out adding in ANY elements of capitalism...
An example of Communism NOT working.. the Piligrims in the first year or two when a ton of them died. They all had community houses, community fields, community food, etc... very communistic... they almost died because of it.. only when people could own land and work in their own fields etc did their society do well.
