Insomniac Species??

Im remembering back in my psychology the discussion we had about sleep. No one REALLY knows what sleep does for us. Yes it relaxes us, helps us heal from sickness and wounds. But there are many theory's about what it does. Some even say that it helps us remember stuff.
We all know that sleep helps us get better.

But have you ever thought about why?
I think its cause our brain uses so much energy and resources that the rest of the body only gets minimal amounts. Just enough to function properly and sometimes when needed a little more for short periods of time.
Then when we sleep the brain pretty much shuts down. So we cool off and the body gets more resources to fix itself up. You could think of it like a computer. When you put it in sleep mode, you cant really use it, it just sits there holding the desk down till its needed again. But it also uses less electricity and cools of a lot. Now obviously the computer doesn't heal itself, because if you shut it down cause it was being FUBAR then it will be just as FUBAR as before if not worse. That's just most of the time, but anyways.

I don't know about the whole memory thing, but I do know that stress can make one forget things and sleep slightly relieves stress. But then maybe thats just me. Ive also heard that you age slower when you sleep. But that sounds kinda wild.

One thing I notice is that although I do seriously enjoy sleep. If my body did not require it, I wouldnt do it. I mean if I didnt have to, if it was a choice, I wouldnt. At least not as much. I could get so much more done if I didnt have to sleep. During the day I could work on my car. At night when theres no light. Id get school work done, play my videogames. That would make for a much more productive world. Again Im not talking about our human race as it is doing this. Because that would make for a very grumpy species. I dont know what the statistics are, but I know we spend alot of time sleeping. If we didnt Im willing to bet that we would be a much more advanced race.

Utopia

This was an interesting rabbit trail that was briefly explored yesterday in my sociology class.
The discussion started off about how class affects peoples lives. Then it moved to what creates class. The most agreed upon idea was that money creates class. Well before heading off onto our bunny trail we discussed ways that it could be cured. e.g. Utopia.
Its a strange and difficult concept to wraps my mind around. At least for me that is.
At first I was like, yah that would kick butt. Total peace nothing to fight over. But then I was like well, yes there is. Because a utopia would be based on trade most likely. Well some person that was the only one who could do something would be able to dictate how much he would take for something.
The other thing that came to my mind was,...... wait a second, Id be working for free. See for me, working for free is pretty insane. Im sure it is posible, but I wouldnt want to be the person to try and set it up.

Talking to a different audience

Ok, I tried asking this question on a different blog of which I am a team member. But I failed to get any real answer. Instead I got two guys arguing over who answered whose question. Oiy, online fights, I swear.
Didn't I make a post about that at some point??? Anywhoooo.....

The question is....
Although I do wholly believe that gay marriage is wrong according to my religion. I think that being and active gay is nasty and ya just totally nasty. I don't understand it. But anyways, my question came from a conversation with one of my friends. We were talking about a gay guy that had just finished hitting on us. He took it as a compliment.... I just felt nasty. His philosophy is that everything is ok for someone. Its the standard pop culture school of thought. I think its total BS. I mean not only is it a total insult to the process of thinking, but most of the time you agree with stuff that is just messed up or completely trivial.
Now, for the question.
Besides all the religious fanatics that bring shame to us normal Christians, that believe that anything that has to do with being gay is wrong. Is there anything wrong with it? In anyway, outside of the realm of religion, is there anything wrong with it. Actually I am more wondering about the marriage part because BEING gay isn't really a problem with MOST people. Its the marriage part that freaks people out.
Oh by the way, there wasn't a gay guy hitting on us. I just thought that it would make a funny intro. =D But I was talking to one of my friends about it.

(post text: Mr. Ciavarro, if you wouldn't mind pointing some of your regular blog visitors to this post it would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get much feed back about this.)
